Description

The primary goal of this two-part series is to assist program leaders in shifting from a conceptual understanding of sustainability to engaging in strategic execution. Participants will become familiar with a research-validated framework that may be used to objectively measure and improve program longevity, moving beyond anecdotal evidence to data-driven decision-making.

In Part 1 of this series, program leaders will learn how to sustain their programs beyond initial funding by first checking the health of the program using the Program Sustainability Assessment Tool (PSAT), and will then move on to make sense of that data.

In Part 2 of this series, program leaders will learn how to engage a full team in a more comprehensive sustainability planning process. Part 2 will be released in the fall 2026.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain why using a tested, research-based tool helps your program sustain its work.
  • Name the specific part of your organization or program that you want to sustain and see how each of the eight sustainability domains work before completing the PSAT check-up tool.
  • Look at your PSAT check-up tool scores to see how different parts of your program work together to sustain it.

Real-World Application

By engaging in this course, you will be able to complete a PSAT assessment for a specific program or service and receive baseline sustainability scores. You will then use those results to identify areas for growth and explore connections between different sustainability domains. When you are ready, Part 2 will walk you through how to engage your team in a more comprehensive sustainability planning process.
