Description

This interactive training module by SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Technical Assistance Center (SPTAC) provides an engaging introduction to the five steps and guiding principles of the Strategic Prevention Framework. Designed for prevention professionals and individuals newer to the field, this self-paced training explores how communities can use data-informed decision-making, collaboration, equity, and sustainability to strengthen prevention efforts and improve behavioral health outcomes. The module is especially relevant for professionals across education, behavioral health, child welfare, juvenile justice, public health, and youth-serving organizations because it:

  • Introduces a practical framework for addressing substance misuse and related behavioral health challenges.
  • Strengthens understanding of assessment, capacity-building, planning, implementation, and evaluation processes.
  • Encourages cross-sector collaboration and authentic community engagement.
  • Supports culturally responsive and sustainable prevention strategies that improve outcomes for children, youth, and families.
  • Provides accessible, interactive learning opportunities that can strengthen workforce development and prevention capacity across systems.
