Description

The purpose of this introductory course is to explain the concept of Implementation Science and to show how implementation science bridges the gap between prevention science and practice, informing and improving program quality, delivery, and impact. This course will demonstrate the importance of the relationship between what we know (science) and what we do (practice).

Learning Objectives

  • Define implementation science.
  • Identify common principles for the implementation of science.
  • Distinguish the difference between implementation science and implementation practice.
  • Identify key terms used in implementation practice.

Real-World Application

This course helps learners improve how programs are put into practice by translating research into everyday action. Learners can use implementation science to select stronger evidence-based programs, assess program fit, identify barriers to success, support staff readiness, monitor fidelity, and make improvements during rollout, leading to better outcomes in schools, community organizations, prevention programs, and youth-serving systems.
