SPEP™ Informed for JPOs: From Research to Practice

In this course, Juvenile Probation Officers (JPOs) will learn about the Standardized Program Evaluation Protocol™ (SPEP™) and how it has become a valuable tool in assessing and improving juvenile justice services across Pennsylvania. In addition, you will learn how the information gained from SPEP™ assessments is used to inform practice and improve decision-making at the county level.

  1. Briefly explain the Standardized Program Evaluation Protocol™ and its role in reducing juvenile recidivism.
  2. Interpret SPEP™ scores to make informed recommendations for courts, as well as service delivery.
  3. Collaborate effectively with service providers to align program delivery with evidence-based dosage and duration targets.
  4. Utilize SPEP™ resources and tools to improve county level decision-making and support high-quality juvenile justice interventions.
