Upstream Prevention – How to Prevent Problems Before They Begin

The purpose of this course is to explore the idea of upstream prevention and why it’s important to prevent youth problems and promote healthy youth development.

Goals

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define the phrase "upstream prevention".
  2. Describe the adoption of a prevention science framework.
  3. Summarize the benefits of utilizing prevention science to achieve healthy outcomes.

Penn State is a Pennsylvania Department of Education non-credit Act 48 approved provider. Upon successful completion, participants can earn 0.25 hours toward fulfilling their Act 48 requirements by participating in this course and completing all activities. Be sure to complete the evaluation at the end of this course and indicate if you seek Act 48 credits in your learner profile.
