State Roundtable Workgroups & Committees
Collaborative Task Forces Driving Systemic Improvement in Pennsylvania’s Dependency Courts
The State Roundtable Workgroups & Committees in Pennsylvania serve as targeted, multidisciplinary teams convened by Pennsylvania dependency judges (and often co-chaired by county child welfare administrators) to tackle statewide challenges within the dependency system.
These expert panels—comprising legal professionals, child welfare staff, and relevant stakeholders—conduct focused research, track progress, and formulate actionable recommendations each year. Their work culminates in comprehensive reports that identify systemic issues and offer strategic guidance for local jurisdictions to enhance outcomes in areas such as mental health, legal representation, kinship care, psychotropic medication use, and more.
Current active groups include the Benchbook Committee, Hearing Officer Education Committee, Mental Health Workgroup, and the PA Children’s Roundtable Summit Workgroup. Legacy panels, such as those addressing autism in dependency courts or substance abuse, have made lasting contributions and laid groundwork for ongoing reform.
Through sustained collaboration and expert-driven inquiry, these workgroups promote consistent, informed improvements across Pennsylvania’s dependency court system.
