The Power of SEL: Equipping Staff to Support Student Well-Being

This course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to foster a positive school climate that supports you and your students' social and emotional well-being. 

Goals

Learning Objectives:

  1. Demonstrate a foundational understanding of social and emotional competence and the framework for SEL.
  2. Summarize the status of your current SEL efforts.
  3. Identify the key components for school or organizational systemic SEL implementation.
  4. Recognize and implement strategies to promote SEL competencies within your environment (classroom, school, after-school).
  5. Communicate qualities that make up an SEL leader.
  6. Determine and set short- and long-term priorities for your environment (classroom, school, after-school).

     

Penn State is a Pennsylvania Department of Education non-credit Act 48 approved provider. Upon successful completion, participants can earn 2.25 hours toward fulfilling their Act 48 requirements by participating in this course and completing all activities. Be sure to complete the evaluation at the end of this course and indicate if you seek Act 48 credits in your learner profile.

Penn State is proud to partner with the National Association of Social Work, Pennsylvania Chapter to offer Continuing Education Credits. Social Work CEUs for this course are pending approval.
